Search Engine Instructions
.
This search engine will allow you to find all the articles on the Homeschooling Resource Center web site that include the word(s) or phrase that you designate. It also has various options explained below that will allow you to customize your search.
.
Sort Policy
You have the option of Sorting your results by Relevancy or by Date.
Relevancy = How well they match your words or phrase.
Date = The most current articles would be listed first.
.
Match Policy
It also allows you to adjust the Match Policy by searching for All Words, Any Words, or Exact Phrase.
All Words = All the words must be included in the article — however they may be in any order and not necessarily next to each other.
Any Word = Any of the words are included in the article — one or more of the words will be included in the article.
Exact Phrase = The words or phrase must be included in the article exactly as you have entered them in the search box.
.
Add Boolean Logic to Your Search Criteria
This search engine has Boolean Logic Capabilities. This means that you can combine words using AND, OR, and NOT to find specific articles.
AND Example: (word1 AND word2) — teaching AND objectives.
OR Example: (word1 OR word2) — teaching OR instructing.
NOT Example: (word1 AND word2 NOT word3) — learning AND teaching NOT instructing.
.
Use Wildcards in Your Search Criteria
The Homeschooling Resource Center Search Engine also supports searches containing Wildcards by using the * and ? characters. The term 'wildcard' is used to indicate that any character will match. The asterisk * will match any multiple characters and question mark ? will match any single character.
Asterisk (*) Example: The search term con* would match con, contribute, connect, or any word that started with con and had zero or more characters following it.
Question Mark (?) Example: The search term no? will match no, not, nod, or any word that started with no and had zero or one character following it.
